| Special delivery service was not available in the Canal Zone at any time. However, special delivery service could be obtained for items mailed to the United States. Generally such items bear U.S. special delivery stamps. U. S. special delivery stamps (and some regular U.S. issues to cope with special delivery fee changes) were sold in C.Z. post offices. It appears that this practice may have begun after the abrogation of the Taft Agreement in mid-1924. Prior to 1924, C.Z. covers endorsed "Special Delivery" bear 10 cents in C.Z. stamps. |
